Senior Accountant

What You Will Do

The SENIOR ACCOUNTANT will be responsible for leading all accounting duties within the organization including maintenance of general ledger and accounting records, daily/monthly accounting close, financial reporting, managing corporate bank accounts, and assisting with funding requests. This position will report directly to our company Partners and be an integral part of our corporate team.  
Your job responsibilities will include: 
  • Maintain the General Ledger, chart of accounts, and accounting systems for multiple entities. 
  • Monthly accounting close- prepare and post journal entries 
  • Consolidate multiple entities. 
  • Prepare and issue financial statements. 
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and analyses.  
  • Payment of vendor invoices 
  • Accounting for loan originations, loan sales, and the servicing of loan inventory. 
  • Reconciliation of bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and loan servicing reports. 
  • Coordinate and reconcile transactions with third parties- loan sales, purchases, on-going loan servicing. 
  • Develop, enhance, and streamline accounting processes related to financial reporting metrics. 
  • Create efficiencies and simplification by leveraging technology solutions and automation. 
  • Assist in various treasury management functions including opening new bank accounts, staging book and wire transfers, managing corporate bank accounts, tracking due-to-from transactions. 
  • Lead the financial operations within treasury management, lender draws, and tax filings.  
  • Coordinate annual Big 4 audit.
  • Coordinate preparation of state and federal tax returns by tax accounting firm. 
  • Reconciliation of general ledger and third-party servicer accounts Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards in the finance industry. 
  • Additional related duties, as required. 
Experience and Skills Required: 
Candidates should have a proven track record of working in a Senior Accountant role within a financial organization, with a focus on mortgage origination and servicing 
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting for a financial services organization, preferably a residential mortgage company. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar scaled accounting systems 
  • Proven experience with maintaining a general ledger system.  
  • Financial reporting experience- consolidation of multiple entities and the preparation of financial statements and other reports to stakeholders. 
  • Accounting for warehouse lines, securitizations, and other asset financing facilities. 
  • Mortgage and investment taxation experience a plus. 
  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on accounting, or equivalent experience.  
  • CPA License or a Master’s in Accounting (preferred).  
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.  
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables, power BI) and manipulation of large data.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Self-starter—must have the ability to problem-solve and self-initiate processes while working independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Organized with an attention to detail and time management.
  • Ability and desire to grow as the company grows
